GOOD MORNING!!! And a weekend update from your neighborhood CalWEAR volunteers:
We received A PLETHORA of adoption applications over the weekend. (Thank you!!!) Unfortunately, 99% of them are for “puppies” and many of the applicants specifically asked us to find their family a pup “within the next 30 days.”
We’re not ignoring you.
It’s just that we are a rescue organization. And in rescue, the majority of the dogs in our care are ADULT and/SENIOR. It’s very, very rare for us to have a puppy in our program. And when we do- they are usually placed with families who have been on our waiting list for an average of 6-18 months.
If you’re really in the market for a puppy, please know it will take awhile. We don’t know how long because we don’t know when the next one will come in, and how many families are waiting ahead of you. If your timeframe is “soon,” you might want to contact a few breeders in your area and get on a waiting list there.
For those of you who are willing to consider an older dog, MEET SAMMY.
SAMMY is 7. He’s neutered and up to date on all of his shots. His family had to move in with their extended family, and he’s not welcome in their home. Knowing the backyard kennel is not the best place for Sammy to spend his days, we’ve been asked to help.
Want to meet this goofball of a Weimaraner?! Shoot us a message at hello@CalWeAR.org.
Cheers, and have a great week.
