Sometimes, you get lucky.
Like that day we met with Till and Julian at a park after a long day of showing dogs. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce our CalWEAR dog to their current girl, Athena.
The moment Athena and her family met with ARTEMIS, and we loaded her up in the car for a “trial run,” we KNEW in our hearts she was going home. 
It actually wasn’t a slam dunk. ARTEMIS had a few concerning growths that had to be removed. (It wasn’t cheap and we still haven’t paid our bill off. 
) And the day AFTER she was adopted, she went back to the ER for seizures. 
ARTEMIS’ family stuck by her side and saw her through it. It never occurred to them to return her because she wasn’t “perfect.” Their message to us was simply to let us know, and that they were taking care of it. Thay also sent us dog food to help out with OTHER CalWEAR dogs. That’s just how awesome they are. So…
