Origin: A Good Samaritan found Kobe about a month ago. After unsuccessfully attempting to reach his previous owners, she moved forward with the idea of keeping him for herself. Unfortunately, puppies don’t mesh well with college class schedules, so the Good Samaritan lovingly turned Koby over to CalWEAR.
Overall Health: Koby came to us extremely underweight, but his foster mom Kim T. reports that he gained five pounds in the last week!!! His first vet appointment went well and we now have him current on his rabies. He will be neutered at CalWEAR’s expense once it is appropriate to do so. The next veterinarian appointment is in two weeks for the remainder of the puppy shots.
House Behaviors: Per his foster mom, Koby’s toilet skills are “improving.” He is also getting training sessions three times a day, plus long walks. He’s learning how to play, take treats, and the words SIT and COME! He runs when he’s scared, and is extremely fast. He hasn’t had much love in his previous life so he’s still learning how to trust.
So far, Koby is coexisting peacefully with the house cat. The jury is still out on other dogs and kids.
We’ll update this page once we learn more about him!
